Free Software for the Palm Computing Platform
Introduction
This site is in a draft state. All comments are
welcomed.
This site is an attempt to promote Free
Software on the 3com Palm Computing
Platform (tm).
This platform is supported by a growing number of developpers.
Among them, more and more have chosen to put their software under
a Free
Software licence - often the GNU General Public
Licence.
This site attempts to:
- reference all software projects which can be considered as
Free according to the Debian
Free Software Guidelines (DFSG), organized by software
categories.
- list missing DFSG-Free programs in each of the
above-mentionned categories, which the Palm community misses,
with references to non-DFSG-free programs when they exist.
- explicit the licences for DFSG-free and quasi-free software.
- provide a base site to turn authors at, to encourage them at
licencing their software at DFSG-free.
- list some essential non DFSG-free software where no
DFSG-free replacements are available.
- etc.
Free Software categories
Non DFSG-Free categories
Generation mechanism for these pages
The categories pages are generated using m4, from a
template and a list defined for each category. All this mechanism is available and
covered by the GPL v2.
Things TODO
- Use a real DB engine, or some SGML/DSSSL stuff
- Have the site really designed
- List more apps
- List apps needed as Free Software
- Auto-add links to licence texts (GPL and such)
- Links to what declares the licencing terms
