SCM - Software Configuration Management
This page is dedicated to the research of the ultimate
free-software SCM system. It is intended to gather:
- Thoughts about what an SCM system should do;
- Feature comparisons between existing tools;
- Other ideas of interest if needed.
I see the SCM software domain as being possible to divide into a
couple of near-distinct sub-domains,
most of which already have been addressed by several tools.
In each of those sub-domains, we need to identify criteria to be
used for relative evaluation of existing tools, as well as key
features and key design principles.
Other SCM-related stuff on this site
- Old CVSps stuff
- Old thoughts (summer '03) about the ideal
version-control tool I'd like to use. Not that much
old-fashionned, although my experience with git now alters a
couple of things there.
- My StGit public
repo (although those days I mostly post patches for git
and related programs directly to the mailing list).
